Krzysztof Ingarden, born in Wrocław in 1957, educated in Poland and Japan, started his career in Tokyo (1984-5) and New York (1986), and he is a professor at Faculty of Architecture and Fine Arts, AFM Krakow University and the president of Ingarden & Ewy.
He graduated from the Faculty of Architecture of the Kraków University of Technology (PK) in 1982, doctorate in 1987, higher doctorate in 2014. In 1983–1985 was a doctoral intern at the School of Art & Design at the University of Tsukuba in Japan. In 1984–1985 he worked at the design office of Arata Isozaki in Tokyo, Japan, and in 1987 at J.S. Polshek & Partners in New York. Co-founder of JET Atelier (1991–2009) and Ingarden & Ewý Architects (from 1998), together with architect, Jacek Ewý.
Academic teacher, from 1982 to 2000 Assistant Professor at the Institute of Architectural Design, Faculty of Architecture, Kraków University of Technology. Associate professor 2003-2014, and since 2014 professor at the Faculty of Architecture and Fine Arts of Andrzej Frycz Modrzewski Kraków University (KAFM), where he held the post of Deputy Dean in 2003–2011. In 2010–2013, external examiner at the Faculty of Architecture and Planning of Dundee University. Guest lectures in Tokyo City University, Hokkaido University of Education, Sapporo; Tsinghua University, Beijing; Bauhaus University in Weimar; Faculty of Architecture Fachhochshule Bremen; Cottbus University, Dundee University, Scotland. Since 2002 – Honorary Consul General of Japan in Kraków.
Ingarden & Ewý Architects – is one of the leading architectural practice in Poland with their office based in Kraków. The design strategy of the team is focused on experimentation and search for new combinations of materials and forms. The team creates innovative architectural expression through a combination of advanced technology with traditional materials, art and craftsmanship. For their design approach they were awarded the Polish Architects Association prestigious Honorary Award 2009. Some other of their awards include UIA Medal – „Friendly Spaces of UIA” , Durban 2014; A-Design Platinum Award, Italy 2014; „Iconic Award 2013” of German Design Council; “Architizer A+ Popular Choice Award 2013”, by Architizer, New York; “Contactword Award 2007”, Hannover, Germany; “Brick Award 2013” Polish edition; The Maciej Nowicki Award for innovative solutions in Polish architecture; The SARP Medal 2001 for the Embassy of Poland in Tokyo, Japan.
